I set out to build a system that could edit a multi-camera (multicam) capture system and edit them effectively. To give context, I was coming from Sony Vegas Platinum, which doesn't allow multiple camera editing, but instead a multitrack timeline that you have to manually pick and choose your clips from each camera used and line them up to the audio track. While this was useful, it was prone to misaligned audio and was very tedious.

Along came Edius. After much research, Edius, by Grass Valley, emerged as the software solution for broadcast quality multicam videos. The name kind of threw me off initially, thinking it wasn't a serious platform to do what I was looking for, but it quickly became the only PC software out there that could do what I needed, without having to buy a million dollar video switching system that a TV station would typically have.
